Injuries to Designated Players, golazos, red cards and plenty of controversy made for a Heineken Rivalry Week that nobody will forget anytime soon. The guys get together to break it all down, starting with a Cascadia win for the Timbers that shifted MLS Cup playoff momentum south from Seattle to Portland. Meanwhile, Toronto will have to chase a first-round bye without Giovinco – for the next four weeks at least – after an “embarrassing” loss to 10-man Montreal. Plus, more Patty Mullins hype, Yura leads RSL to Rocky Mountain Cup win, the Red Bulls get the job done, just barely, and Jason Kreis gets some payback.

In the second segment, it’s time to talk CONCACAF, beginning with your favorite regional nickname. Vincy Heat is certainly a candidate, which is convenient because the USMNT take on St. Vincent and the Grenadines on Friday with a place in the Hexagonal on the line. First, roster breakdown – including a late call-up for Sacha Kljestan and a puzzling one for Jermaine Jones – then a request for a Jozy Altidore and Bobby Wood partnership. Finally, Canada head back to San Pedro Sula hoping to exorcise qualifying ghosts of years past. Can they do it?

In the mailbag, front-office change in San Jose, a style question for Crew SC and perspective on Jordan Morris’ Rookie of the Year campaign. Oh, and a celebrity ETR sighting.

Heineken Rivalry Week is here, and the games are predictably juicy. Don’t sleep on the Rocky Mountain Cup, especially considering the unique place Pablo Mastroeni and Kyle Beckerman occupy in the rivalry. Get the lowdown on the 401 Derby, fight for El Capitan in the Texas Derby and an I-95 clash between the Red Bulls and Revs. Those matches are huge, but the second clash in a week between the Timbers and Sounders is the big daddy. Why, you ask? The Seattle Times’ Matt Pentz calls in to explain.

But wait, that means we left one Heineken Rivalry Week out. Not true! Orlando City SC head coach (and former New York City FC boss) Jason Kreis chats with Andrew about what went wrong in the Big Apple, what he’s learned in the last seven months and what his vision for the Lions’ future entails. Skip head to the 23:50 mark to listen to the interview!

In the mailbag, Hope Solo’s suspension, big-money moves for some US national teamers, Doyle puts the kibosh on a couple discussion topics and a listener shares his MLS dream journal, which definitely isn’t weird. Nope. Not at all.

Is this how it’s going to be the rest of the year? Another weekend brought serious fluctuations in the Supporters' Shield and playoff races, and the guys sit down to nail down the current lay of the land. The biggest news of the weekend was the last to break, as the Seattle Sounders cruised in what was a must-win match against Cacadia rivals Portland. Are the Timbers in trouble? What has gone wrong for LA, Montreal and the Red Bulls? Are Toronto FC Supporters’ Shield favorites?

In the second segment, the guys look forward to a full week of CCL and MLS action (MLS LIVE, for the win) leading up to this weekend’s Heineken Rivalry Week. Matt Doyle trades his analyst hat for a stethoscope in an attempt to find a pulse in Vancouver, Columbus, and Chicago and believes one of the three still has hope.

The mailbag is choke full of Minnesota talk following the big announcement last week. Is their crest the best in MLS? What are your dream conference realignments? All that, and so much more.

Big news in the Twin Cities. Ahead of MLS and Minnesota United’s major announcement on Friday(Live stream at MLSsoccer.com, 7 pm ET), the guys bring in FiftyFiveOne’s Wes Burdine to give the lowdown on soccer in Minneapolis-St. Paul, the ethos of the club and its fans and the stadium designs that have the Dark Cloud’s hyped for the future.

In the second segment, it’s back to the business at hand. The MLS Cup Playoff races are in full swing, and there are plenty of marquee matchups this weekend that could push teams above or below the red line. With the Galaxy headed to the Bronx, who’s having the better season: Frank Lampard or Steven Gerrard? With the Sounders and Nicolas Lodeiro set to host the Timbers, which side will walk away with their heads held high in what amounts to a six-pointer? Plus, Atlantic Cup action and a Toronto-Philly matchup that could be a preview of the Eastern Conference Championship.

The mailbag begins with some USMNT news in Europe, then the guys ponder questions about Kei Kamara’s role in Crew SC’s tough season and Jozy Altidore’s resurgence as he comes back from injury.

David is out gallivanting around the Hamptons, so Ben Baer joins Andrew and Matt to take a critical look at both conferences as the playoff races distill and the red line becomes the primary focus for all 20 teams in MLS. First up, the West, where Seattle and new Designated Player Nicolas Lodeiro are proving they’ve got plenty left in the tank. Dallas still sit top of the table, but could they benefit from a (late) #fakeMLStrade? Plus, who’s fighting to stay alive and why isn’t Matt high on LA’s current form?

Turning to the every-man-for-himself Easter Conference, the race is about as clear as mud. The Red Bulls and Sacha Kljestan are making up ground after that dire start, but New York City FC continues to score (and concede) in droves to somehow sit above the likes of resurgent Toronto FC. Which team is the favorite the rest of the way? Well, it’s … uh … you know, if … right, but … fine, we have no idea.

In the mailbag, David takes a break from vacation to explain how the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) experiment went in USL play on Friday. Reviews are positive.

The US Open Cup final is set. The Chicago Fire may have been desperate to host the big match, but their performance wasn’t up to snuff (and those road woes struck again) as the New England Revolution made sure they’d play for silverware in 2016. The Revs will face FC Dallas, who used an epic, corner-kick fueled comeback against the LA Galaxy to book their place in the final, a game they’ll host. Oscar Pareja joins the guys to break down the win, explain what happened with Fabian Castillo and give an academy update ahead of another big weekend match against Sporting KC.

In the second segment, the guys wonder what Diego Valeri’s place in Timbers lore will be after the Argentine No. 10 signed a contract extension and professed his desire to stay in Portland when his career is through. Plus, rumors galore around the Red Bulls and Montreal, Alejandro Bedoya’s potential debut and a reason to watch Seattle the rest of the way. Entertainment value!

The mailbag starts with some USMNT updates from overseas before transitioning into a question about the ETR crew and recreational soccer. If that doesn’t grab your attention, we’ve got more origin stories to reflect on.

Ben the Research Baer jumps on to deliver a hot take on Seattle’s playoff chances, and Nick Rimando makes more history.

Ahead of the US Open Cup semifinals, Chicago Fire general manager Nelson Rodriguez stops by the studio to give a behind-the-scenes look at the club’s transfer dealings, explain why they haven’t splashed the cash – yet, anyway – and dream about winning a trophy in front of the home fans at Toyota Park.

In the mailbag, the guys share their MLS origin stories, plus Sounders fans explain what a successful season looks like, even if it doesn’t include the playoffs, and why LA is obviously excluded from the Cascadia Cup.

The transfer window slammed shut (sorta) on Wednesday night, but not before a flurry of moves that shook up the MLS landscape ahead of the stretch run. The Union dominated the headlines by snagging USMNT midfielder Alejandro Bedoya, trading for Charlie Davies and shipping Sebastian Le Toux, and head coach Jim Curtin calls in to give the guys the lowdown on what’s going on in Philly. Plus, why you should look out for the Fire in the next transfer window, and it appears Fabian Castillo to Turkey is close to a done deal.

In the second segment, the guys round up the rest of the transfer news ahead of a SoccerSunday tripleheader on ESPN and FS1 and a Viernes de Futbol classic that Doyle says has three points for New York City FC written all over it. Meanwhile, what are the Sounders playing for the rest of the way? And how will the Red Bulls deadline deals impact the squad?

Don't miss all the transfer scuttlebutt across the league with the summer window in full swing.

In the second segment, Jermaine Jones stops by MLS Digital HQ to chat with Andrew and Calen Carr. The topics range from tattoos, youth development, the Hells Angels and his picturesque family life. Most interesting man in MLS? Don't bet against the Rapids midfielder.

In the second segment, cult hero RJ Allen calls in to detail his years in the professional wilderness, what it’s like to train with David Villa and Frank Lampard and what it feels like to be half of a sibling rivalry in the #NYDerby ahead of a third 2016 meeting between New York City FC and the New York Red Bulls (1 pm ET; FOX in the US, MLS LIVE in Canada). And that’s just one game during a weekend packed with must-watch soccer.

Plus, the "Research Baer" breaks down Colorado's historic run and the guys disagree about the best side in MLS at the moment. Hint: nobody is right, but Matt and Ben are definitely wrong.

In the second segment, the guys break down the big move made by Atlanta United as they lock down a star CONCACAF forward in Kenwyne Jones. Then FourFourTwo’s Paul Tenorio stops by to elaborate on his report that Jason Kreis is in “advanced negotiations” with Orlando City, takes a look at the future of the club, and explains why there could be some summer moves for the Chicago Fire.

Who says this is the slowest sports week of the year? Certainly not MLS fans who saw a bonkers Wednesday night of eye-catching results keep the week rolling. It was headlined by first-place FC Dallas suffering a 5-0 whooping in Seattle that included a lineup gambit from Oscar Pareja, another Jordan Morris goal and a Clint Dempsey red card that will see him suspended for Sunday’s match against the rival Timbers. Oh, and Nacho Piatti scored (when he shouldn’t have been on the field), Connor Lade put up a golazo for his first MLS strike and the Fire’s Dutch import opened his account under two rainbows against a frustrated Sporting KC.

The past is over, but the future is yet to come. This weekend promises to be another banger, as MLS takes over Sunday with #PORvSEA (3 pm ET, FOX), #MTLvNYC (5 pm ET, ESPN) and #PHIvNY (7 pm ET, FS1). After attempting to pronounce the name of Portland’s new Lithuanian signing, the guys are joined by Timbers goalkeeper Jake Gleeson to reminisce about live in New Zealand and the brilliance of Diego Valeri. Then they break down Mix Diskerud’s place on NYCFC, the most-likeable player in MLS and the rest of the weekend action and transfer window speculation.

A double header on Friday night gets the juices flowing but the headline match might be SKC hosting the an eastern conference leading NYCFC squad who are serving up some piping hot crow for Doyle.

In the second segment the guys discuss Vancouver’s new vacancy at center forward after the sale of Octavio Rivero. Then Sigi Schmid calls in from Seattle to talk coaching tree, the future of coaching in the US, his nemesis/friend Bruce Arena, and their matchup this Saturday at 3pm ET on ESPN.

Canada Day and the Fourth of July brought fireworks, and Andrew and David bring Calen Carr in to help them understand what they saw during four straight days of MLS action. New York is blue, there’s no doubt about that. But is Jack Harrison the next big thing? David is convinced. Graham Zusi is reinvigorated, and that’s a good thing for Sporting KC. Steven Gerrard and Robbie Keane look like they’ve been playing together for years, and that’s a bad thing for every team that isn’t the Galaxy. Plus, Tim Howard nabs his first shutout, Orlando City SC fall apart defensively and Jordan Morris scores a banger that even Jurgen Klinsmann felt compelled to praise.

In the second segment, Bobby Warshaw gives the inside scoop on what life’s like in USL. The road trips, the level of play, where it fits into the youth development scheme, the stadiums and fans that fill them and where it fits among the world’s lower divisions. Trust us, you’ll learn something.

Finally, as the transfer window opens, the guys try to decide who the biggest player loss has been so far this season. Oba? Nemeth? How about Matt Miazga or Jermaine Jones? Then they see what MLS could borrow from Iceland, and Calen takes self promotion to a whole new level.

South of the border, the US Open Cup Round of 16 came and went and naturally there were all sorts of bizarre highlights, crazy plays and coaches … throwing balls? The guys look back at everything that happened then look forward to a loaded quarterfinal schedule.

In the second segment, attention shifts to MLS ahead of an awesome weekend that includes four straight days of league action then dive into the #FakeMLSTrades quagmire. The next installment of the #NYDerby is on Sunday (Noon, ESPN). Can New York City FC finally earn some respect in the five boroughs? And how will Poku's transfer affect the club? The guys also look at your dream transfers for MLS, and Doyle has some names who could maybe stay in the states after Copa America Centenario.

It’s expansion time in the mailbag. Nashville will join USL in 2018 and owner/investor Chris Redhage, who played in the league himself, checks in from the Music City where his group is on the verge of announcing the league’s newest franchise, one with plenty of ambition.

Copa America Centenario is over – more on Chile’s win, Messi’s retirement and a third-place game loss for the US in the second segment – but MLS’s summer of soccer shows no signs of slowing down. The guys start with New York City FC, who can’t get it done at Yankee Stadium but are apparently juggernauts on the road. Oh, and Frank Lampard appears to back to doing Frank Lampard things. What does that mean for Doyle’s fearless playoff prediction?

Of course, plenty can change for all 20 teams once the transfer window opens onJuly 4. The guys bat around some rumors, ruminate on a few fake trades and then get FC Dallas Fernando Clavijo on the line to explain why the club sold talented 18-year-old Alejandro Zendejas to Chivas Guadalajara. Plus, with teams sniffing around Fabian Castillo, how long will he stick around MLS? Who might be in line to replace him?

After a month of battle between CONMEBOL and CONCACAF, Chile emerged as Copa America Centenario champions via yet another shootout win against unlucky Argentina. Lionel Messi was down in the dumps, then he announced his international retirement. Buenos Aires-based Sam Kelly checks in to give the dirt on the drama surrounding the federation and its most important player on a day that saw a bomb threat make headline news. First things first, MLS is back and the action will be coming thick and fast until December. Is Roland Alberg the answer for Vincent Nogueira? Yes and no, says Doyle. Did Collin deserve a red vs. Real Salt Lake? That’s a universal no from the guys. Are the Impact actually worse with Didier Drogba in the lineup? (Gulp) Maybe. Then the guys run through some transfer rumors (Birnbaum, Bradley and Zendejas) before hitting up LA Galaxy forward Alan Gordon for some Cali Clasico stories, Steven Lenhart’s whereabouts and a scouting report on “baby” Bash Bro Jack McBean.

You didn’t think we’d gloss over that US national team loss, did you? The guys give their thoughts on Tuesday’s domination at the hands of Lionel Messi and Argentine, then look ahead to World Cup qualifying and Road to Russia 2018. So you want Darlington Nagbe to play, but where? Who might be phased out? Who should be phased in? Might Jurgen Klinsmann actually move to the EPL? Hint: no chance.

He takes them inside the locker room what the mentality is like before the game, and answers some big questions like what changed for Jurgen Klinsman, and did US Soccer save Jurgen?

In the second segment MLS has returned so Ben "the research" Baer joins the show. It’s time to dive in the MLS deep end after a two-week break for Copa America Centenario. But first, a little domestic cup action as the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup hits the fourth round. MLS teams dominated, snagging 14 spots in the Round of 16 via late goals, penalty kicks and even a little gamesmanship in Los Angeles. Plus, are things going to get worse for New York City FC before they get better? And which matchup in the Round of 16 is the headliner?

In the second segment, it’s time to look back at the first third (ish) of the season and preview what’s to come. Translation: David tortures Andrew and Matt by bringing back some old predictions. Let’s call them ghosts of MLS previews past. Who did Andrew double down on as Golden Boot/MVP? Does Doyle still like his MLS Cup picks? Who swung and missed? Answer: basically everyone.

Chicken Little was wrong. The sky wasn’t falling for the US national team. In fact, Jurgen Klinsmann’s boys won Group A thanks to a gutty win against Paraguay and some wholesale tinkering by Colombian manager Jose Pekerman against Costa Rica. The guys break down the shorthanded victory in Philly, then look toward Ecuador in the quarterfinals with Fox Sports and Sirius XM pundit (and USMNT legend) Eric Wynalda. Rein in those expectations, but Waldo says the final is possible. FutbolMLS.com’s Kristel Valencia, a daughter of Ecuador, is an enemy until Thursday night, but she gives you the inside scoop anyway.

Of course, the tournament is bigger than Group A. First, the no call that saw Peru sneak past Brazil and eliminate the five-time World Cup winners from the tournament. Was it a handball? Of course, it was, says just about everyone but Raul Ruidiaz. Franco Panizo joins to shine a light behind the scenes, then the guys attempt to play out the tournament via prediction. Will the US make the final? Will Mexico crash out? You’ll have to listen to find out.

OK, Copa America Centenario. You’ve got our attention. Matt Doyle joins David to break down a match that may have seen Jurgen finally settle on a preferred XI! Plus, the Armchair Analyst names the Russell Westbrook of the USMNT to boot. David also calls on Ralph Hannah, a soccer writer in Paraguay, to get the lowdown on who the US must get past in their Group A finale on Saturday night.

In the second segment, the guys zoom out to give Copa some context. Have Colombia and Brazil elevated themselves to tournament favorites? For US fans, who would you rather face in the quarterfinals? There’s some MLS news to talk about as well as teenagers made waves in Atlanta and Vancouver.

Friend of the show Bobby Warshaw stops by for the mailbag to carry the load in midfield for the ETR squad. He examines the USMNT performance and looks forward to the Paraguay matchup then touches on whether criticism from the media can actually be good for a struggling team.

Time to unpack the United States’ Copa America Centenario-opening defeat to Colombia. Were the teams “completely even,” as Jurgen Klinsmann said? Or did Colombia know the Americans couldn’t threaten them after an early goal? There’s some truth to both. To help break it down, the guys get Seattle Sounders forward and FOX analyst Herculez Gomez on the line. Herc gives some insight into Jurgen, Jordan Morris and Mexico before the guys give their predictions for a must-win match.

In the second segment, it seems everyone is looking at Copa through El Tri-colored glasses. Was that wild win against Uruguay really that impressive? Andrew and David aren’t so sure. Plus, did Jamaica’s coach throw Wes Morgan under the bus for partying like a rock star after Leicester City’s EPL triumph? The answer might be lost in translation…

It's time. Copa America Centenario is here and the guys spend a full hour previewing the tournament that's going to take over the Americas.

First up, of course, is Group A, which starts with a 1994 World Cup throwback between the United States and Colombia on Friday at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara (9:30 pm ET; FS1, Univision, UDN). What are the expectations for Jurgen Klinsmann's side? What problems do the third-ranked Cafeteros pose? Answer: plenty. FutbolMLS's expert (and native Colombian) Diego Pinzon joins to explain why, despite the odds, he thinks the US will make it through to the knockout round.

Mexico, meanwhile, are targeting more than just the quarterfinals. They want to win the whole thing, and plenty believe it's possible. That includes ESPNFC's Tom Marshall, who calls in from the road to tell the guys why Chicharito is ready to be THE man for El Tri, how Juan Carlos Osorio keeps opponents on their toes and where the dream could die.

No mailbag this time around, but FutbolMLS's Kristel Valencia drops by to preview Group B paced by a weakened Brazil and Empire of Soccer's Dave Martinez breaks down Argentina, Chile and Lionel Messi's opportunity to cement his legacy.

The show’s a day late, but that doesn’t mean you’ll want to miss it. First, justice in Colorado, a howler in Montreal delights David’s mother and New York City and Kevin “hot boy” Molino do what they do. Namely, blow points at home and come up big when it matters. Plus, a Giovinco injury that has Toronto FC fans worried, a new Kamara in Columbus and a growing crisis in Seattle. To finish things off, Andy Edwards joins to explain what’s ailing Sporting KC.

The second segment begins with some CONCACAF Champions League fever. Well, not quite fever. Maybe more of a sniffle as the 2016/17 groups are out and MLS teams have reason to be perturbed as well as excited for this year’s tournament. After that, it’s all US national team talk after a friendly win against a poor – let’s be honest – Bolivia side. Has Jurgen settled on a lineup? Is Pusilic the next big thing? Make sure to tune in on Thursdayfor the full tournament preview.

Finally, in the mailbag, listeners take a crack at creative AT&T MLS All-Star ballots, and Andrew has more salt poured in his Wondo goal-prediction wound.

With a laundry list of MLS news to tackle, the guys bring in Calen Carr to augment the New York crew. First up, All-Star voting is open. The guys run through their early ballots and attempt to pinpoint the proper voting protocol. This big news of the day, though, is a mutual parting between the Dynamo and Owen Coyle. Houston vice president and general manager Matt Jordan explains the move – and the now-active coaching search.

Copa’s coming, and the US national team are closing in on their opener against Colombia. On Wednesday, the Nats dispatched Ecuador via Darlington Nagbe’s first career international goal. Andrew and David pitch their dream lineups, no matter how unrealistic. Is the Pulisic/Wood/Nagbe core ready to start now or would you rely on veterans to lead the way?

What can NYCFC do to recover after a loss that will go down in New York Derby lore? Plus, Waston’s tackle after the whistle, another attempt at explaining the Rapids’s success and hot seats in Seattle.

In the second segment, Copa America Centenario is quickly approaching, and the United States 23-man roster is out following a friendly win in Bayamon against Puerto Rico. Lalas is back to break down the group, including Jurgen Klinsmann’s decision between Wondo and Jordan Morris, the ideal center-back pairing and in what scenario the Nats will win it all. His favorite? They wear green, red and white.

The mailbag begins with a quandary: Why doesn’t every team put two men on the posts? Dave is riled up, and so were NYCFC fans when a certain Designated Player came on a substitute on Saturday. Listen to find out who.

The guys head to Twitter headquarters in New York City for Heineken Rivalry Week media day. They to sit down with some of MLS's Big Apple's biggest stars, but first break down all the must-watch action happening elsewhere. First, why rooting for Chris Pontius is basically your responsibility as an MLS fan. Then, Toronto FC's attack without Jozy, a rivalry between Sporting KC and Real Salt Lake that doesn't get the due it deserves and waning animosity between San Jose and LA (maybe?).

In the second segment, the real fun begins as Patrick Vieira, Jesse Marsch, Mike Grella, and Mix Diskerud stop by to chat with the guys about rivalry games, babysitters, travel plans, and those pesky media responsibilities.

In the mailbag, a quick look ahead to a Sunday matinee between Puerto Rico and the United States, trash talk from a D.C. United fan and Calen's off-the-cuff MLS Fantasy advice.

After hanging up on Taylor, David and Matt break down another wild weekend. They start with Sporting KC's shooting practice against Orlando and the fortunes of the two New York clubs as they head into a pair of midweek fixtures before a Heineken Rivalry Week matchup on Saturday. Not to be overlooked is Montreal and Philly's top of the table matchup and the FC Dallas winger not named Fabian Castillo who is lighting it up.

The MLS transfer window closed without a peep, and the guys ... just kidding. There's nothing like a blockbuster to get the conversation started, and Kei Kamara's trade from Columbus to New England after that outburst certainly qualifies. Andrew and Calen check in from Venice Beach, while Matt chimes in from after. Plus, don't miss the midweek breakdown and recommended watching this weekend.

In the second segment, Andrew stops by StubHub Center to chat with Galaxy vice president Pete Vagenas about LA's new high school and integration between the academy, USL team and MLS squad. The mailbag has the requisite Cali flavor, plus some hints for growing a fanbase outside the United States.

With Andrew on the road and David in Mexico, the guys get together late Sunday night to put a bow on the weekend. Kei Kamara and Federico Higuain certainly weren’t exchanging gifts after a contentious draw that saw Columbus Crew SC’s Designated Players fight over a penalty kick (then air grievances in the media). Sporting KC’s Peter Vermes used the media to challenge his team after another loss, Toronto opened the new BMO Field in style, Jordan Morris can’t stop scoring and the Rapids (!!) are first in the West and the Supporters’ Shield standings.

On Friday, LAFC got the go ahead on their sparkling stadium in South Los Angeles. To celebrate, club president and co-owner Tom Penn joined Andrew to give the lowdown on the design and the future of the club on and off the field.

The mailbag begins with a Mother’s Day story then the guys mull Cyle Larin’s future and Frank Lampard’s legacy (so far) with New York City FC.

Before David heads down to Mexico on vacation, the guys get together to preview a truly special weekend of MLS matchups. First, you’ve got to find a way to be in front of the TV for Toronto FC's home debut at the renovated BMO Field in what could be an MLS Cup preview. That’s just one of the buffet of big games on MLS Live on Saturday,  including Cascadia Cup action in Vancouver, a playoff rematch in Columbus, a top-of-the-table (!!!) Rocky Mountain Cup clash, and plenty more.

In the second segment, Red Bull's captain Dax McCarty joins the show to talk about city living, New York’s slow start and the pre-training huddle that makes the squad feel like a family. From his favorite NYC brunch spots to his improv skills, you won’t want to miss this one with the always charming McCarty.

The guyswax poetic about the Red Bulls demolition of FC Dallas, NickRimando’s heroics (with his face), a beautiful day in Portland forDiego Valeri and Jake Gleeson and a sumptuous chip from Giovani DosSantos.

Get ready for banter in the second segment as theVancouver Whitecaps’ Jordan Harvey and Tim Parker hunker down inthe studio with Andrew and Calen. On a serious note, theguys divulge which MLS teams they like to watch, what’s its like toplay with a former rival like Blas Perez and why cheat days (andcandy runs) are key. Finally, Parker reacts to a bold World Cupprediction from Greg Lalas.

Forget Detroit Rock City. How about Detroit Soccer City? Fresh expansion news took the guys by surprise, but with they dive in with both feet to beak down the current pecking order. Midweek action produced three 1-1 draws, one of which prompted Matt to label one team’s playoff chances kaput. In general, slow starts are difficult to overcome in MLS, and a handful of 2015 playoffs teams are already in trouble. Toronto FC aren’t in that group as an epic road trip comes to a close. Neither is FC Dallas, or the LA Galaxy, where Ashley Cole is forcing some folks to eat some crow.

In the second segment, Seattle Sounders director of performance and sports science Dave Tenney joins Andrew and Ben to explain what his team does to get the most out of their players, their efforts to prevent injury and why sleep and hamstring strength are crucial for athletes.

The mailbag begins with the Armchair Analyst’s take on the decisions Jurgen Klinsmann must make to narrow down a 40-man preliminary roster for Copa America Centenario, then the guys discuss the incessant beeping in Andrew’s apartment, Lord Bendtner’s MLS ambitions and the idea of former players becoming MLS referees.

From controversial refereeing decisions to audacious chips, surprise results, LA Galaxy dominance and a historic Toronto FC road run, re-live the weekend that was.

in the second segment, ETR favorite C.J. Sapong stops by to tell the guys all about Planet Lovetron, his alien brother Andre Blake, a potential national team future and why Keegan Rosenberry can be trusted with the hair clippers.

No Viernes de Futbol this week, which is a real bummer. Still, there’s a big weekend of MLS action on tap, and Andrew rejoins Calen and David to discuss all the biggest headlines. First up, Chris Wondolowski’s hunt for the MLS goal record with Sporting KC headed to San Joseon Sunday (3:30 ET, ESPN), then a must-win matchup at Red Bull Arena on for New York against Orlando on FS1 (7 pm ET). Oh, and how can you forget about Didier Drogba's first start, and FC Dallas’ chase for history?

In the second segment, the burning question is this: Are the Colorado Rapids a playoff team? Calen says no, David says yes, and Andrew says maybe. To break the deadlock, the guys give Rapids midfielder Sam Cronin a call to see what he thinks. They also ask Cronin about the impending arrival of Tim Howard, orange balls and the machine that is Jermaine Jones.

The table is upside down, at least compared to 2015, and Andrew, Matt, and David break down the surprising Wednesdaynight results then look ahead to the weekend. With Colorado riding high, how will the upcoming addition of Jermaine Jones affect their playoff chances? Will he be more impactful than Didier Drogba, who could come back this weekend for Montreal? The guys also talk SkyCam in KC, the wonderful life of Chris Wondolowski and the imminent departure time of the Tommy Thompson hype train.

In the second segment, Sporting KC's midfield duo of Roger Espinoza and Jordi Quintilla stop by the studio on the heels of a Justin Bieber concert. They discuss their respective paths to KC, the players and teams they hate playing against and best tactics for pushing through a postgame jersey trade.

That tackle. It’s the talk of MLS on Monday, and the guys give their takes on the Nigel de Jong challenge that forced Portland Timbers and US national team star Darlington Nagbe to leave the StubHub Center pitch in a wheelchair. Then they break down the rest of another wild MLS weekend. Philly are for real, but should their game-winner have counted? Why are last year’s powers (Red Bulls, Crew SC, ‘Caps and Sounders) reduced to also-ran status? Is the TomThom hype train finally rolling along? It’s all here.

Then, in the second segment, the Fire’s Arturo Alvarez and Johan Kappelhof sit down in studio to explain why each of them ended up in Chicago, give their thoughts on the De Jong tackle, look forward to a matchup with Didier Drogba and give Andrew a scheduling lesson. Oh, and why were Khiry Shelton and Mikey Lopez suspended by Patrick Vieira? It sounds ridiculous, but is it?

Andrew is back just in time for a loaded show that features two A-List guests. On the eve of #USAvCAN, US national team debutant Jerome Kiesewetter checks in explain how he went from Berlin to the StubHub Center. Find out why John Brooks may be to thank for Kiesewetter’s emergence, why MLS could be in his future. Plus, the guys discuss Stuart Holden’s retirement, Iker Casillas to NYCFC and more transfer news.

After the break, Peter Vermes joins the guys on for a must-listen Q&A for any MLS fan. He goes into the nitty-gritty details of the Krisztián Németh and Erik-Palmer Brown deals. Don’t miss his thoughts on the nature of transfers in MLS, including details on where those dollars go. Plus, Vermes confirms foreign clubs are sniffing around for managers as well.

The transfer window exploded on Monday and the guys break it all down. Andrew is on the injured reserve list, so David and Matt carry the load. What were their takeaways from U.S. Soccer’s rainy victory vs. Iceland? It starts with the new and improved Jozy Altidore, but there is plenty more to unpack. Plus, what to make of the Krisztian Nemeth transfer, an ever-evolving LA Galaxy squad that now reportedly features Nigel De Jong, and two new Designated Player signings in their prime.

Of course, the guys wouldn’t pass up the chance to chat with Red Bulls sporting director Ali Curtis, who discusses Matt Miazga’s move to Chelsea and the big picture as it pertains to MLS. How will the Miazga transfer money be used? How is TAM affecting the league? Plus, how might the sale of young prospects affect the talent pool as a whole?

In the mailbag, the guys assemble MLS 4-v-4 squads, name Dom Leroux's (or Sydney Dwyer's) future World Cup winner, and shine a spotlight on US and Borussia Dortmund phenom Christian Pulisic.

Major League Soccer was trending on Twitter on Wednesday. Why? Matt Miazga’s rumored big-money move to Chelsea and the soccer lifeline the LA Galaxy extended Ashley Cole. The guys give their takes on both moves…right after congratulating Landon Donovan on fatherhood. Fox Sports’ Alexi Lalas joins soon after to chime in on Miazga, Bruce Arena’s future in LA, Patrick Vieira, Jermaine Jones, Tim Howard and the role of captains on the field and off.

Meanwhile, Wilmer Cabrera has a lot of work to do, and very little time to get it done. The former Chivas USA and United States youth national team coach is now at the helm of USL expansion team and Houston Dynamo affiliate Rio Grande Valley Toros FC. Cabrera is currently building a roster from scratch, and he joins the guys to lay out his plans, challenges and mandate from the Dynamo.

In the mailbag, a long-time listener takes Andrew to task after some Twitter back and forth, New Jersey gets its soccer due and the guys try to narrow down the field and name the best left back in MLS.

Camps are open and preseason is in full swing. Didier Drogba isn’t with the Impact just yet, but his future has been resolved. Or has it? RDS’ Pat Leduc joins the guys to explain why the relationship between the Ivorian and Montreal owner Joey Saputo has lost some luster, then addresses rumors that Drogba won’t be around for a full MLS season. Plus, what is preseason like for the players?

For many, training camp means fitness, and Sporting Kansas City’s head fitness coach Mateus Manoel joins the guys to explain how he gets his charges ready for a long MLS campaign, why the beep test is important and how yoga (of course) can be a good and bad thing for soccer players. Players want to play and scrimmages begin soon, often against college competition. Florida Gulf Coast takes on New York City FC this weekend, and head coach Bob Butehorn says his guys are pumped up about it.

In the mailbag, a listener warns Andrew about the hygiene risks that come with hot yoga and supporters wonder whether they should change where their fandom lies.

The prodigal son has returned. OK, so that’s a little dramatic, but you may have heard Stanford standout (and US national team player) Jordan Morris signed with the Sounders on Thursday. Is it good for MLS, too? Taylor Twellman wouldn’t comment on that, but Andrew, David and Matt will. Plus, what does Jurgen Klinsmann think about the move and why did Benny Feilhaber go off on the German in a media roundtable this week?

In the second segment, Toronto FC head coach Greg Vanney joins the guys to talk about the moving and shaking in Ontario. Many say TFC won the postseason (again). Does Vanney agree? More importantly, how do the Reds get all that talent on the field – and manage to defend? Plus, thoughts on North American player development and that road trip to start the season.

To finish things off, the guys hit the mat to explore the world of yoga as listeners enlighten Andrew and give David some much-needed affirmation. Ommmmmmm!

While the third and fourth rounds of the MLS SuperDraft went down via conference call, ESPN’s Taylor Twellman joined Andrew, David and Matt for a wide-ranging MLS discussion that included the former Revs and USMNT’s striker’s New Year’s resolution, Jordan Morris’ potential MLS future, the Rapids’ pursuit of a certain US national team goalkeeper, the rebuilding project going on in Los Angeles and uncertain MLS fates for Jermaine Jones and Didier Drogba.

Of course, there’s plenty going on outside MLS. Notably, the USMNT’s January camp is ongoing, and Matt puts 2016 – Olympic qualifying, Copa Centenario and World Cup qualifying – in context. More importantly, what’s up with Morris’ rumored Sounders signing after leaving Werder Bremen? Where does he fit in and what does it mean for Seattle? Plus, thoughts on what are the Chicago Fire are up to, Yura Movsisyan’s 2016 goal haul and a Costa Rican international linked with New York City FC.

In the mailbag, a certain Red Bulls’ player (of the past) created a stir on Craigslist, and MLS’s biggest Hungarian fan chimes in on Sporting KC’s newest signing and Krisztian Nemeth’s MLS future.

Drama at the MLS SuperDraft? You don’t say. Once again, MLS’s kick-off event gave Andrew, David and Doyle plenty to talk about as eight trades went down, the first-overall pick’s final destination was a bit of a mystery and the LA Galaxy and Sporting KC called it a day before the first round was even over. Get the full breakdown of the top five (OK, seven), plus some thoughts on Alejandro Bedoya’s rumored MLS move.

Drama is fun to talk about, but the real joy every January is seeing dreams come true for the players in the room. The guys share their best stories from the floor, then give all 41 picks a once over to determine winners and losers. Well, not exactly. Oh, and don’t forget that plenty of veterans made moves this week, too.

In the mailbag, next year’s location gets a vote of approval from Andrew, the pride of Baltimore gets a shout out and David Bowie is honored again.

After a quick break, the guys chat with the man most likely to be taken first overall, Georgetown defender Joshua Yaro. What made him finally decide to go pro and sign with MLS? Yaro may have to deal with the likes of Yura Movisisyan in MLS as it appears the Armenian striker is close to becoming the goalscorer Real Salt Lake have been searching for. Plus, is Tim Sebastian the Matt Miazga backup plan? And does Sporting KC already have a center forward option in their squad to cover Dom Dwyer?

In the second segment, news and fashion are combined. MLS dropped the 2016 schedule with two editions of Heineken Rivalry Week and plenty of national television games, so start planning those road trips and tailgates. One team that isn't on the schedule but is making waves is LAFC via Thursday morning’s crest reveal. Andrew and David drool over potential swag (shouldn’t they be giving that away!), then Bobby Warshaw calls in to walk you through the MLS Combine experience from a player's point of view – nerves, roommates, job interviews and more.

Plus, the Didier Drogba saga continues, and new signings begin to trickle into the league.

Who could really use Kenwyne Jones? Who is the next Matt Miazga? And, of course, which team will snag Jose Mourinho and Freddy Adu? Plus, what’s the latest free agency news?

In the second segment the guys have a long discussion with US national team legend and newly announced Philadelphia Union sporting director Earnie Stewart. He discusses his experience as a front office member in Holland, his plans and goals for the Union, the intricacies of MLS, and much more.

Jordan Morris is doing Jordan Morris things, and now he’s got a decision to make. Will he sign a Homegrown deal with Seattle? Head to Europe? Plus, what makes him so special?

Fox Sports pundit Alexi Lalas was at Providence Park and says Dallas still has plenty of room to muscle in on an MLS Cup experience.

We’re on the verge of the Conference Championships, which means Andrew’s on his way to MAPFRE Stadium for the first leg of the Columbus Crew SC-New York Red Bulls series. But before he left, the guys got on the phone with Kei Kamara, the most potent goalscorer left in the playoff race, to talk shop. Bad news for Red Bull fans: Andrew reminded Kei that he hasn’t scored against New York yet this season. Or will FC Dallas’ Mauro Diaz prove he is the most talented player in MLS, and make Doyle eat his words?

FC Dallas got revenge for last year’s postseason exit, dropping Seattle in penalty kicks with the help of 20-year-old goalkeeper Jesse Gonzalez. Portland stand in their way after shrugging off listless Vancouver, while the other side of the bracket pits the Red Bulls and Columbus Crew SC. No big-money stars? No problem. Is that a trend?

New York City FC have their fair share of stars in Frank Lampard, Andrea Pirlo and David Villa. They have a new head coach with similar credentials as a player in Patrick Vieira. Sunday means another quadrupleheader of MLS action. Andrew, David and Matt preview all the matchups, but first they turn a critical eye to New York City FC, where Jason Kreis is out after two years – just one actually in the league – in charge. Does the move make sense? The red side of New York appears to be in good hands with Jesse Marsch, but D.C. United are ready to spring an upset. See what Red Bulls midfield Felipe has to say about that and the growth of MLS. Plus, can Columbus prove their regular-season success was no fluke or will Didier Drogba run rampant?

In the Western Conference, FC Dallas have plenty to prove as well. They’ll have to do it against a Sounder side that’s finally starting to look like the juggernaut that wrecked MLS earlier in the year. Meanwhile, in Vancouver, the Whitecaps are still trying to find that April form. Portland, according to the guys, are the favorite, and Darlington Nagbe is the protagonist. Plus, MLS end-of-season awards: Who deserves hardware and why?

#DecisionDay goes down on Sunday, with comprehensive coverage on MLSsoccer.com, FS1 and ESPN. Before the guys dive into all the scenarios and break down the matchups, there’s the business of our new book club book "Das Reboot" to announce. Once that’s out of the way, it’s all Eastern Conference, where only one Audi 2015 MLS Cup Playoffs spot is up for grabs and the Audi Golden Boot is basically locked up…but there’s still plenty of seeding drama to digest.

In the Western Conference, the scenarios for the three remaining berths are complicated, especially because Sporting KC fell flat on their face in midweek action. Will Seattle see their season go up in smoke? Can San Jose sneak in? Is Portland the most likable team yet to book their place? Oh, and who will lift the Supporters’ Shield after the Fire-Red Bulls game was moved to the late window?

The mailbag is an MLS Monster Mash, as the guys share all the timely and hilarious MLS Halloween costumes submitted by listeners.
