Mario Balotelli should come to Major League Soccer. If you're listening/watch, Mario, make it happen in January. The Extratime crew has some suggestions for possible destinations. Inter Miami or the LA Galaxy are the sexy choices, but Toronto FC are currently the club linked with the big man. That could definitely work, if they moved Jozy Altidore. What about Montreal to play the No. 9 for Thierry Henry? Honestly, it doesn't matter. We need Mario for the soccer and the #content.

Sporting director Paul McDonough calls in to explain his plan -- he was part of the expansion build for Orlando and Atlanta -- and gives details about the club's open Designated Player spots (they expect to use both), the team's first head coach (you'll recognize the name) and David Beckham's role signing players (they answer his phone calls).

Also in this podcast ... Top players available in the Expansion Draft and best selections of all-time. Former MLSers you'd want to see coach. USMNT handle business against Canada. Is it the first of many steps toward a more pragmatic approach or just a one-off? Which players impressed? What happened to Canada? Plus, lots of listener mail.

In this episode, Andrew Wiebe, Matt Doyle, Bobby Warshaw and Susannah Collins gather to discuss the only news that matters: THIERRY HENRY IS THE NEW HEAD COACH OF THE MONTREAL IMPACT ... THIERRY. HENRY. HEAD COACH. IN. MLS. Seriously, the all-caps are appropriate. The crew is JACKED, and imagine what MLS and Montreal will be like with the Arsenal, Barcelona and Red Bulls legend on the sidelines.

The only sad part is that, as Henry returns, Zlatan Ibrahimovic bids adieu to the LA Galaxy and, we presume, MLS. Will the Galaxy be better off? What\'s Zlatan's legacy? Did he conquer MLS? Will we miss him or was it time to say goodbye?

Also in this episode ... Sam Stejskal (The Athletic) calls in to walk you through the movers and shakers in the two-day trade window. Dax McCarty explains why Nashville was the right landing spot for him and what we can expect from the expansion hopefuls. Finally, the US national team has a must-win game against Canada on Friday ... so why aren't people excited? And why is Earnie Stewart giving Gregg Berhalter a public vote of confidence?

In this episode, Andrew Wiebe, David Gass, Susannah Collins and Bobby Warshaw sit down to discuss two massive upsets in the Audi 2019 MLS Cup Playoffs. MLS Cup is set, and it’s déjà vu (again): Seattle Sounders vs. Toronto FC. Are you jacked or is it lame that we didn’t get a new matchup? What did the Sounders do to spoil LAFC’s season? More importantly, how will Bobby respond to Seattle head coach Brian Schmetzer’s national TV call out?

Former Sounder Steve Zakuani joins the show to explain the gameplan, take you behind the scenes before and after the match and describe what the next week will be like in the Emerald City. After, the crew wonders what LAFC’s long-term legacy will be without the ultimate prize? Still the best ever or just another great team? Opinions are split.

As for Atlanta United, they’ll have to settle for the double. Should we be surprised the Five Stripes didn’t show up? They’ve been up and down all year. Same for Toronto FC (for two years), so why were they the ones who got it done? Will Jozy be back in time for Cup? Does Greg Vanney get enough credit? In the mailbag, listeners dance on LAFC’s grave and burn Wiebe.

In this episode, Andrew Wiebe, David Gass, Matt Doyle and Calen Carr focus a microscope on the four teams left standing in the Audi 2019 MLS Cup Playoffs. First things first, what does it say that four of the most ambitious clubs (spending, facilities, expectations) in the league find themselves chasing MLS Cup? We try to answer that question.

Then the guys dig into each individual matchup. Is this actually a trap game for LAFC? Will Bob Bradley sit back or press? Should Dio start? For the Sounders, it’s time to appreciate their consistency! But will they have enough against MLS’s best-ever regular season squad and Carlos Vela in fine form?

Atlanta United fans don’t think their double gets enough respect, so Andrew gives it to them. They’re the clear favorites, but they got some questions to answer, mainly on the backline. As for Toronto FC, they won’t be scared of the Five Stripes, but they won’t have Jozy Altidore (we expect). What does that mean? How can they pull the upset?

In this episode, Andrew Wiebe, David Gass, Bobby Warshaw and Matt Doyle go in on Major League Soccer’s Week 12. Monday means winners and losers, and there’s no bigger winner than LAFC these days. Bob Bradley, Carlos Vela and the rest of the Black and Gold are on track to obliterate every record in the book. Who would you take in the trophy chase? LAFC? Or the field? Are they actually the Man City of MLS, as Caleb Porter proposed? Other winners: Pity Martinez (finally off the schneid) and Atlanta United, teams that fired their head coaches (no, not the Rapids) and the Houston Dynamo … after a loss.

As for Week 12 losers, the LA Galaxy lead the pack after NYCFC handled them easily. Zlatan can’t do it all, but is he also holding the Galaxy back? Andrew is coming around to Team Bobby, and everyone else is rolling their eyes. Minnesota United have a conundrum, too. How do they get the best out of Darwin Quintero AND Angelo Rodriguez? And how can they start picking up wins at home? Sporting KC are also in the wilderness … and their numbers are dwindling by the day.

Also in this episode … Ben Baer joins for the mailbag to play “Guess that Designated Player!” and explain what Porter was talking about when he said Expected Goals told the real story of Crew SC’s season.

3:57 – LAFC and Carlos Vela chase history as the results (and goals) pile up

8:35 – Need a win? Just dismiss your head coach! It worked for Cincy and the Revs

13:08 – Pity finally gets his goal! Atlanta get another shutout and climb the table

18:20 – The Dynamo lost … and are still a Week 11 winner? How?

25:12 – LA Galaxy look static (three straight Ls) and so does Zlatan

29:08 – Are NYCFC good? They sure look good, in large part thanks to Heber

37:55 – Can Adrian Heath figure out the Quintero-Rodriguez conundrum?

40:32 – Is the season spiraling away for Sporting Kansas City?

In this episode, Andrew Wiebe, David Gass, Bobby Warshaw and Calen Carr tackle the close of MLS’s primary transfer window. Which moves did the guys like the most? Which teams did what they had to do as the count ticked down?

The Rapids certainly didn’t sit on their hands, getting younger and filling holes after they fired head coach Anthony Hudson. The Crew weren’t playing around either, but the winner was either the Seattle Sounders or Portland Timbers. The Athletic’s Sam Stejskal calls in to pull back the curtain.

Meanwhile, Paul Tenorio (yes, too much Athletic) doesn’t have a good nickname, but he does have the lowdown on the Fire’s proposed move from Bridgeview to Soldier Field downtown. FC Cincinnati president and GM Jeff Berding also calls in to explain why he dismissed head coach Alan Koch just 11 games into the club’s first MLS season and what comes next. Could David Moyes coach FCC? It’s possible.

Also in this episode … US Open Cup gets a huge upgrade, The Movement is back and a Minnesota fan gets some Loons swag in the Mailbag.

  • 3:57 – What move, what team, what transfer happening stood out?
  • 8:35 – Doop! Union get the Bobby Warshaw MLS MVP … David Accam!
  • 13:08 – Can Justin Meram rediscover his All-Star form in Atlanta?
  • 18:20 – Transfer window winners, losers and takeaways with Sam Stejskal (The Athletic)
  • 25:12 – US Open Cup gets a (deserved) upgrade and brings the drama
  • 29:08 – Are the Fire moving to Soldier Field? Paul Tenorio (The Athletic) has the details
  • 37:55 – Quick takes on Alan Koch’s dismissal as FC Cincinnati head coach
  • 40:32 – INTERVIEW: FCC president and GM Jeff Berding on why he fired Koch and what’s next (Moyes?)

In this episode, Andrew Wiebe, David Gass, Matt Doyle and Charlie Davies go deep on Major League Soccer’s Week 10. First up, as always, the winners from the weekend: Ezequiel Barco, Jim Curtin and the Union, Dab God aka Derrick Etienne Jr. and New York City FC. As for losers, FC Cincinnati’s tailspin continues – now with hard-truth quotes from Fanendo Adi – and referee Ted Unkel is under the microscope again as Columbus feels jobbed by a controversial call.

Also in this episode, analyzing the Francisco Calvo trade to the Chicago Fire, Diego Valeri joins the 70-70 club and the Timbers make a massive move! Brian Fernandez is headed to the Rose City in a record transfer from Liga MX’s Necaxa. Where will he play? How will he change the Timbers? Last but not least, some extremely MLS-y trades as the transfer deadline looms.

In the mailbag … Charlie picks his all-time 5v5 teammate, the guys identity surprise MLS stars of 2019 and the Houston Dynamo’s fast start is fun (but may not be sustainable).
