Andrew, Charlie and David go line by line and reveal the team that paces the league. Who had outside backs and who went all central defense? Who is the No. 9 … or is there one? The weather is cooling quickly, and the soccer is starting to give off playoff vibes. The Union had a shot at the first silverware in club history … and fell short in Columbus. The Crew’s stars are back, and they’re feeling it. Meanwhile, pressure is on Philly (and Joe Bendik) to hold Toronto at bay on Decision Day presented by AT&T. Five teams are still battling for two remaining playoff spots in the East, it four teams for two spots in the West. The guys name who they want in for soccer/entertainment reasons, dissect the end of the Guillermo Barros Schelotto’s time in LA and discuss what Miguel Herrera would bring to club, ponder the Rapids’ chances at making a run and pump up the NYCFC midfield. These are unprecedented times, and MLS is taking unprecedented measures to ensure all teams are measured on the same standard. That means points per game will decide playoff seeding and playoff spots. That’s good news for some, and not so good for others. Andrew, David and Charlie weigh in, celebrate another win for the Union, who are on track for their first-ever trophy now that the Supporters’ Shield is back on, then chat with veteran shirt tucker Ray Gaddis, covering the how and why of on-field presentability, the importance of voting and everything in between. Also in this show, the guys argue about MVP candidates (and Defender of the Year), declare Josef Martinez clear troll winner and give Henry Kessler his due not that there’s no Rookie of the Year award.

On this episode of The Movement, host and former MLS player Calen Carr examines the issue of voting rights in America, and travels to Pennsylvania to see how the Black Players for Change and the Philadelphia Union opened their stadium as a three-day voter service center, despite opposition. Carr speaks with players and figures across the leagues and reflects on his own political experiences as a player, all with the goal of determining one single but complicated idea: the value of a vote.

Listen and subscribe to The Movement HERE! Extratime driven by Continental will be back on Thursday to chat with Ray Gaddis of the Philadelphia Union and round up Wednesday's action.

Doop! The Union project is fully mature, and they took years of frustrations out on Toronto FC. Andrew, David, Doyle and Calen give Jim Curtin and Philadelphia their due and wonder whether a double is in the cards. A double is possible because the Supporters’ Shield is back, as the decision not to award the trophy in 2020 was reversed by the Supporters’ Shield Foundation. Doyle is, of course, a Shield truther, and he says this proves the trophy means more than it ever has before. Calen, meanwhile, is back on the Carlos Vela hype train, even if LAFC’s star still looks a half step slow. Alicia Rodriguez (SBNation) also drops by to drop some Chicharito and Guillermo Barros Schelotto takes and explain what’s going on in San Jose and Sacramento.

The guys discuss the here and now as well as the long-term trickle down, and Andrew chats with Salzburg manager Jesse Marsch about what the Union homegrown brings to the Austrian champions, the perception of American players in Europe and a tough Champions League draw that will test players and manager alike.

Oh, and Caden Clark bagged another banger! How should the Red Bulls usher the 17-year-old along? Plus, with more games postponed because of COVID-19, how might that affect playoff qualification?
